Truck Shop Mechanic - 2nd/3rd Shift
Primary Job Responsibilities: This full-time Mechanic position is responsible for: Perform diagnosis of unit repair and report what is needed to a shift supervisor and help determine cost effectiveness of repair. Drive vehicles whenever necessary. Provide and update own hand, air, and electrical tools as wear, breakage, and fleet models dictate. Repair defective units as assigned by a shift manager within guidelines of each manufacturer’s recommendations. Inspect and report to a shift manager any defects unlisted on a current VCR that generated a RTA line entry. Tag and/or mark as directed by a shift manager parts for core, scrap and warranty. Read, understand, sign and comply with notices, bulletins, and forms generated by yourself and Deffenbaugh Industries. Communicate personal and work needs to a shift manager and / or Human Resources. Inspect, use, clean and return shop equipment and tools undamaged and report damage to shop tools a manager. Document all repairs in RTA work order lines and VCR lines as trained and allowed by a shift manager. Requirements: •Class A or B CDL and clean Motor Vehicle Report. •At least 7+ years performing repair in the transportation industry, waste truck experience. •Validation of training and mastery of or willingness to learn RTA Fleet Management. •Must be able to perform outside, occasionally, during unseasonable hot and/or cold weather. •Familiarity with automated side-loaders, McNeilus Leach Heil body style. •Always willing to teach/ share with employees. Keeps a positive mental attitude in all situations. Keeps cool when high stress problems arise be means of delegation. •All employees MUST assist in the safe operation of the equipment and assist in the safety of each employee. •Master tool set with specific tools for specific engines/ computer systems •High school Educations or GED Essential Functions & Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Preferred: A Master ASE Certified Technician. Vocational Schooling with advanced knowledge of: ABS diagnostics and repair, HVAC repair, suspension, steering, Electrical systems trouble shooting, diagnostics and repair, brakes repair. Specifically in these 4 areas: Engines, Electrical/ Electronics, HVAC, and Brakes. Extensive knowledge Mack truck systems: VMack MP7 and MP8 systems. Knowledge of refuse equipment including roll-off, front load and rear load. Master ASE Certifications, M-1 MP-7 & MP-8 Mack Engine, M-4 Mack V-Mack Electrical, M-7 Mack Brake System, M-8 Mack HVAC, Tire and Wheel Fastening, DDS Brake Inspector, DDS Annual Inspector, and Mack- Parts Failure Diagnostics. Work Environment: Must be able to stand for long period of time.
