Residential Driver
Essential Functions:
This position is a Residential Trash Truck driver. The person will have 1 helper on the truck with them while picking up trash from 400-700 houses per day. Drives Garbage Collectors on designated route within municipality to pick up and load garbage and recyclable materials onto truck. Transports load to disposal area. Assists in unloading garbage or dumps garbage from truck. Records mileage, house count and fuel consumption. Will also utilize our Routeware computer system in each truck for GPS, missed houses, and daily route check. All Drivers MUST assist in the safe operation of the truck this includes: evaluation of materials left for collection, determination of whether those materials included any hazardous materials, decision making on what materials safely could be places in the truck for transport, and assist in the safety of each employee.
Requirements: The ability to get in and out of the truck to throw trash 400+ times per day. A Class A or B CDL with 1 year driving experience within the last 2 years with a CMV with a GVWR over 26,001 pounds and a manual transmission. All applicants must be 21 and older. Must have some knowledge of GPS or computer systems to utilize our Routeware system. All Driver applicants must complete application with accurate 10 year history and present a CDL with a 2nd form of ID (birth certificate, social security card, passport etc). Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Ability: Must be able to read and write in English. DOT requirement. Certificates and Licenses: Class A or B CDL with Airbrake Endorsement. Work Environment: The work environment is permanently outside: heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
