How do holidays affect my pick-up schedule?

Residential Services: If your scheduled pick-up day falls on or after a holiday, our team will collect your waste one day later that week.

For other holidays not listed on the schedule, waste collection will occur as usual. For additional information on the residential holiday schedule, please review the holiday schedule.

Why is Deffenbaugh changing my truck and recycling pickup schedule?

To help reduce our impact on the environment, Deffenbaugh Industries is creating more efficient trash and recycling pickup routes. More efficient routes mean less carbon emissions, cleaner air for our community, fewer trucks on the road, and less wear and tear on the streets.

How should recyclable materials be set out?

Please set recyclables at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on your scheduled pick-up day, and be no more than three feet away from the curb. Deffenbaugh Industries will provide the initial recycling bin to homeowners free of charge. Alternatively, homeowners can use their own containers, as long as the container is well marked with "RECYCLING" or the universal recycling symbol . Can I place large cardboard boxes in my residential recycling bin?

Please cut all cardboard and corrugated material set into pieces no larger than 2’ x 2’ and place them underneath your recycling bin. For the safety of our employees, any materials set out that do not meet these guidelines will not be collected.

Do I have to sort my recyclables at any of Deffenbaugh Industries’ Recycling Drop-off Centers?

At our recycling drop-off centers, you are able to put paper, #1-7 plastics, aluminum, tin and chipboard into one container. We ask that large pieces of cardboard be placed in the cardboard-only containers, and that glass is placed in the glass-only containers.

Where can I recycle my glass?

Deffenbaugh Industries is proud to be a partner of Ripple Glass. We encourage residents to take their glass to a Ripple Glass location to be recycled. For more information and a list of locations at which you may recycle your glass, visit rippleglasskc.com.

Where can I dispose of my household hazardous waste?

Deffenbaugh Industries is just as interested in keeping the Johnson County Landfill as safe as you are. Therefore, we do not accept household hazardous waste.
