Can I place large cardboard boxes in my residential recycling bin?

All cardboard and corrugated material set out for recycling collection must be cut-or in pieces no larger than 2’ x 2’ and placed underneath the recycling bin. For the safety of our employees, any materials set out that do not meet these guidelines will not be collected.

Why is Deffenbaugh changing my truck and recycling pickup schedule?

What is my pick-up day this week with the Holiday?

Residential Services: If your scheduled pick-up day falls on or after a holiday, our team will collect your waste one day later that week.

How can I pay my bill?

The fastest way to pay your bill is to visit the Online Bill Pay section at the top of the website. Or, you can pay via mail or telephone with your debit or credit card. To pay by phone, please call 913.631.3300. To pay by mail, send your payment to P.O. Box 3220, Shawnee Mission, KS 66217-9742.

How should recyclable materials be set out?

Deffenbaugh makes it easy for homeowners, even those with a high volume of recycling material, to implement a recycling program with their flexible approach towards secondary recycling bins. Deffenbaugh provides the initial recycling bin to homeowners at no cost. Alternatively, homeowners can use their own containers, including trash barrels. These containers need to be well marked with "RECYCLING" or the universal recycling symbol .

  • Recyclables can be commingled loosely in the recycling bin
  • Corrugated cartons should be cut or reduced to 2’ X 2' and placed under the recycling bin
  • All containers should be thoroughly rinsed
  • Labels are okay

Where can I dispose of my household hazardous waste?

Deffenbaugh Industries is just as interested in keeping the Johnson County Landfill as safe as you are. Therefore, we do not accept household hazardous waste. However, we do help fund the Johnson County Household Materials Collection Facility where residents can bring unwanted hazardous materials for the safe disposal, recycling, or reuse of those items. Do I have to sort my recyclables at any of Deffenbaugh Industries’ Recycling Drop-off Centers?

At our recycling drop-off centers, you are able to put paper, #1-7 plastics, aluminum, tin and chipboard into one container. We ask that large pieces of cardboard be placed in the cardboard-only containers, and that glass is placed in the glass-only containers.

Where can I recycle my glass?
