Arkansas Solid Waste District Fees FAQ.

Recently, Act 209 was passed by the State of Arkansas General Assembly, allowing Solid Waste Management Boards to charge and collect fees. The Solid Waste District Fee will now appear on your bill from Deffenbaugh Industries.

Who is being charged the fees?

All customers that fall under the jurisdiction of regional solid waste management boards.

For what purposes will the additional money be used?

To enforce local regulations for which the district has been previously given enforcement regarding solid waste, including illegal dumping/dump sites; creating and maintaining programs for household hazardous waste collection and disposal; maintaining programs for recycling in rural areas; and contributing to the recycling of bulky waste (such as stoves and refrigerators).

When will the fees be collected?

Fees will be collected as part of your regular trash bill from Deffenbaugh Industries.

Why are the fees being charged now?

The fees will help the Solid Waste Districts plan for and project the future needs of landfills and the Solid Waste Districts throughout the state. Please see Act 209 for more specific details about the fee.
